Children need an opportunity to express their grief in their own way in their own time.  
Many times children who have experienced the death of a loved one feel isolated from their
peers and alone in their grief.  Through art, play, music, and peer support they are given an
opportunity to share their feelings and open up in an environment that is welcoming
and understanding of their loss.

           Dragonfly Club ages 5-12, meets 4:00-4:45pm
 Mondays, Rose Hall Dining Room 

 This group gives children a chance to meet others who are grieving the loss of a loved one.  We use activities,
books, and expressive arts to facilitate our feelings and help us heal.  I like to meet with the child individually
for their first visit.  This gives us a chance to get to know one another first and helps us decide whether group
will meet the child's needs best.  An individual session can be arranged by calling Candice Slate,
Children’s Outreach Coordinator at Hospice of the Upstate, at Ext. 3132. 

        Expressing Ourselves ages 5-12, meets 10:00-11:30am

One Saturday a Month

 Anderson Arts Center 

This group offers children a place to express themselves through art and normalize their grief with others
who have experienced loss.  We are open to the community and applications are available on our website.

Individual Sessions for Hospice families who have children anticipating the death of a loved one, may be arranged by calling Hospice of the Upstate ext. 3132 to schedule an individual meeting at Hospice.

GRIEF GROUPS- FUN- FELLOWSHIP
Camp Sunburst features a staff of professional counselors, social workers, and chaplains who have
decades of experience with end of life issues and grief.  The Camp provides guided group interaction and reflection, renewal and recreation with peers who are also grieving.  Traditional camp activities are
provided by trained Outdoor Lab personnel.
